There is always something going on at Snodland Community Centre. Keep an eye on this page for news of special events that are coming up during the year.
Jubilee Celebration Dance
As part of Snodland’s celebrations over the extended Jubilee weekend, a special
dance has been arranged for Monday, 4th June. Supplying the music will be Shazam, a group which provides a range of music to suit most tastes.
Doors will open at 7.30 with the event beginning at 8.00. Some time during the evening, the proceedings will pause for a moment to give everyone the opportunity to step out of the Centre to enjoy the spectacle of seeing the special Jubilee beacon being lit on Holly Hill.
Tickets cost £5 and are available from Dilys on Snodland 240783 and Alan and Penny at Home & Hobby.
Other events over the Jubilee weekend in Snodland
There are a number of events that have been organised to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. These include:
As well as these events there will also be a display of photographs of how Snodland celebrated the Coronation, which has been arranged by Dr Andrew Ashbee of Snodland Historical Society and which has been erected in the Library.
Don’t forget if you have a child who is under 15 to encourage them to enter the special Local History quiz that has been devised – there are three prizes of £50, £25 and £10. Question sheets are available from local schools and organisations such as the Scouts.
Finally, the month will end with a special five a side football tournament. This has been organised by the football clubs in Snodland and will take place on 23rd and 24th June at Potyn’s Field.

Make a date in your diary for Saturday, 29th September 2012 when Bowstring make a welcome return to the Centre for a Ceilidh Night. The event is being organised to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Centre’s opening in
1987. The band are noted for their mastery of a range of instruments and their ability to get even the most reluctant up onto the floor to make a fool of themselves. More details to follow shortly.

Quiz Nights: another successful evening was held at the Centre on 13th November 2010 when the brains of Snodland locked horns! Congratulations to Alan Totham’s team with their winning score of 100 points.
On 4th February 2012, another quiz night was held. It was very well-attended with twenty five tables competing. On this occasion, Peter Misy’s team emerged the victors by the margin of one single point!
Many thanks to Graham Morecraft and his wife, Linda, for organising this event.
